Travel: A long day..or 3?

ANNNND we’re off! Yeah yeah yeah, our wedding was over 6 months ago but as teachers we cram 12 months worth of work into 10 and then cram 6 months of adventure into 2. Huge shout out to Annamarie who gave us our super early morning ride to SeaTac. Carry-ons loaded with snacks and caffeinated for our long travel ahead, we boarded our first flight to JFK. A few hours into our 6 hour layover, we ran into the lovely Elayna and her mama in transit to Greece. In true Brandt fashion, his neon head-to-toe was hard to miss. Though I saw her a few days ago, we managed to never communicate our layover locations. So here we were, just hanging in NY.

A few chapters of reading (yes guys Brandt is reading a REAL book), and an Auntie Anne’s Cinnamon pretzel later we boarded the long haul to Gatwick. Here we sit, 5 hours into our 10-hour layover before our last flight into Malaga where the loveliest Rataezyk parents will be greeting us! While these layovers have felt long, and yes we are delirious and tired, we’ve filled the time with PRET sandwiches, lots of good shoe watching, European style critiquing, and a free “just married” cappuccino from Maria. We even befriended Max, a 7 year old on “holiday” who plans to start a Vlog of his hover board and snorkeling skills...look out world, the youth of the UK is taking over! I’d say this exhausted, teaching, married couple’s travels are off to a great start.

The happy couple ready to go!

Our surprise JFK run-in with Elayna

48 ish hours later...sooo ready to be there

  1. Great, now I'm gonna have to find my way to Auntie Anne's today for a cinnamon pretzel and some strawberry lemonade. That sounds so good!!
